Hi, I’m Amelia! I was born in Poland, grew up in Germany, and am currently in my second year of the Law LLB here in Edinburgh. My passion for writing and my interest in international and human rights law is what inspired me to join LWOB as a Researcher for this semester’s project.

Hello, I’m Sasha. I’m from Ukraine, but I have bounced around to Miami, Warsaw, Dubai, New York City, and now Edinburgh. I’m a 1st year student majoring in International Relations and International Law. I grew up in Ukraine, so I have always been surrounded by military talk, and especially since the start of the invasion it has been a big part of my everyday life.

I'm Sofiya, a 1st-year LLB student. I'm originally from Ukraine, but grew up in Canada and Switzerland. This experience has not only fuelled my passion for human rights law and international law as a whole but also developed my multilingual capabilities. I decided to undertake this paper because I believe it addresses a crucial yet underrepresented area of international law, which is essential for our understanding of the current state of international affairs. I'm excited to expand my knowledge in this field and hopefully create a comprehensive and captivating research paper.

Hi, I’m Jyot, a MSc International Relations student from India. Previously, I studied political science, along with diplomatic studies, international law, and international economics. I am interested in political philosophy, jurisprudence, and sociological studies, especially understanding global politics through the lenses of critical theory and post-structuralism. People have started noticing PMC activities in different regions and this project allows me to explore the dynamics of PMCs working not only in the military sector but also with governments. Academic interests aside, I am also a Formula 1 addict.
